A written prayer. Empty A written prayer.

Post by Taius Auric Mon Apr 09, 2012 1:55 am

My lord Akatosh, I beseech thee for guidance, and time, so that I might better understand and realize the correct path to take.

It has been three years since I initially tried to recreate the Knights of the Nine, and I've had little success. Without the artifacts passed down by Pelinal Whitestrake, any legitimacy I might have in these dark times is swiftly dismissed by those who might otherwise listen. The Thalmor have frightened the rest away, and I find I cannot blame the people for being afraid. So much has been taken by the Thalmor, in their anger. Their bitterness is so strong, my lord. The hatred they espouse in their teachings and actions will no doubt fester in the hearts of men for years to come. If things continue as they are, I fear of the blood that shall be spilt. And I fear that peace may never truly come, so long as this hatred between the races festers so darkly.

I pray for guidance, Lord Auri-El. I am but one man, with only my faith and sword to guide me.

I fear it is not enough.

Praise be to thee, and the Nine, in these dark times. May the innocent be protected, that compassion guide our judgements, and that justice prevail.

Seek me in Whiterun.

Mind that Thalmor can read as well as anyone.

If not for the fact that I know I am the only person to have touched this journal, I would thought someone had left a message while I was unaware.

Is there some kind of magic at work here?

Aye, boy. Seems these books have some magic in them - whatever you write in one turns up in all other copies. Useful if you need to talk to someone at the other end of Tamriel, but you've always got those you'd like not to know your thoughts reading whatever you scribble down.

Welcome to these strange ledgers. Don't try to destroy yours, they don't take kindly to it.

Tried burning this thing the other day.

It jumped back at me. They really don't want to break. Should probably find one of those Vigilants of Stendarr.

…I see.

Well, if destroying it is out of the question, have any of you ever tried simply leaving it behind? Seems a rather obvious answer for those of us who dislike having their private thoughts exposed for all to see.

If you don't like your thoughts getting out, why do you write them down!?

Typically when I write in a journal, I don't have to worry about it writing back. And writing relaxes me.

Well. If I can't banish it, then I may as well use it. I am Sir Taius Auric, formerly of Skingrad. Who are you?

That is a long story. One I am not entirely comfortable writing down and risk others seeing.

But I can say that, in my attempts recreate what was long thought lost, I garnered many enemies. And rather than risk harm to myself or others, I left, in the hope I might find the answers I seek elsewhere.

You going to be heading to Whiterun then?

My my, the addled gladiator actually corrected someone. I find myself needing to question the fundamentals of life after this unexpected, miraculous event. Quick, somebody check; have the Thalmor renounced the Concordat? Are Masser and Secunda falling from the sky? Is Skyrim actually going to be warm for once in a million years?
