I found this tome in the entrance to a barrow, underneath a trio of long-dead corpses. How it came to be there, and how it's still in such good condition compared to the aforementioned corpses, I'm not sure — but I'll wager it has something to do with the uniquely odd enchantment that seems to be on it, given the other...entries herein.

Well, I've read most of what was previously written in this ledger, so allow me to simply say: Greetings.

Welcome to these ledgers then. A word of advice: don't try to destroy yours, apparently it has counter measures for that.

It's been better, and it's been worse, so I suppose I can't complain too much.

Of course the Dunmer would know how to spell it properly. Sales ledgers have to be written correctly after all! Otherwise the slave might go free due to a technicality! "Kajeet? I am no Kajeet! I'm Khajiit! You must have the wrong person."

Oh great, you're the type who assumes every damn dunmer was a heartless slaver. News flash, I wasn't.

And for your information, we abolished slavery before your people invaded. So don't even try that as an argument for burning my home to the ground.

Tell that to the Dres remnants in the north. You cannot tell me that the Dunmeri tradition of slavery is dead, for I have witnessed it first-hand.

Never said it was, just said it was outlawed. I'm not that idealistic.

It was not my kind who were driven from Vvardenfell by the Argonians.

The Imperials may testify to the alleged cruelty of the Dominion, but it is but a drop of water in the ocean of atrocities committed against the Mer.

Vvardenfell died long before my people invaded. And people seem to forget that we only kept the south, leaving the northern portion of mainland Morrowind for them. More than they deserved.

You took advantage of the Dunmer's catastrophe to drive them from most of their homeland and annex it for yourselves. You left the Dunmer only with Solstheim, a minor island with a Nord-like climate entirely unsuited to their race. The eruption of Red Mountain had left Morrowind vulnerable. As an imperial province, it owed its protection to Cyrodiil. Yet Cyrodiil did nothing while the Dunmer were driven into a desolate island. Solstheim was only retained because of its ebony mines, which the Imperials would not allow to fall into the hands of An-Xileel. How is this behaviour less reprehensible than any of the accusations levelled against the Dominion?

Unlike the altmer, the argonians and khajiit have been enslaved by the Dunmer since the First Era. The explosion of the Red Mountain was a gift from the gods, inviting us to exact revenge upon our former masters.

I'm TALKING about subjugation and vengeance. How we were the victims of evil, and the gods looked upon us with the knowledge that we are the truly noble ones! That we deserved the land that we built! So they gave that land to us and punished the oppressors!
