Probably because your thoughts aren't worth knowing.
Anyhow. Good luck with that, Calith. These books can defend themselves, but maybe it won't kill you.

Re: Regarding these tomes...
ok well i'm underground and i've discovered that the books can provide illumination if there's no other lightsource around. light doesn't go far though, just enough for you to see so that you could write, can't use it as a torch or anything.
books are also waterproof, but that's unrelated.

I guess that's useful if you don't want to waste a candle or a light spell writing at night. And I would have been a bit disappointed if the books were not waterproof, considering their likely origin.

Which is why you keep a candle just in case. Besides, reading in the dark hurts your eyes.
The books replenish themselves no matter how many pages you tear out. I've just finished ripping out enough to make another book. I wonder if you can duplicate the books in such a way.
If not, well then I get a free blank book.

Hah! No need for ink, candles, and paper? This book is saving all of us a potential fortune!Nightshade wrote:Which is why you keep a candle just in case. Besides, reading in the dark hurts your eyes.

Tried writing something on the bound ripped out pages. They didn't appear or anything, so even if you have a bunch of them stuck together, the enchantment on those torn out pages remain gone. No duplicating them that way.
Obviously, you'd still need ink for those torn pages.

Re: Regarding these tomes...
Your handwriting is horrible. Is that first letter supposed to be Lyr or Hekem?
Anyhow, it is obvious that these books would allow other languages. And we know of course that sketches can also show up in them. What I want to know is: if you remove a page which you have previously written on, would your writings disappear in another book?

Should've been more clear. First letter of your daedric writing. Figured that since I was referring to the daedric script it would be self explanatory. I guess not.

Whatever spawned these tomes made them exceptionally durable.
So far as I can tell it cannot extensively read thoughts. It seemed unaware of my intention to destroy it, making no attempts to protect itself until the moment it was directly attacked.

Re: Regarding these tomes...
Never found one and after today i'm sure it wouldn't be damaged by being stomped on.
It wasn't so much as scratched after it was buried under a landslide and then set upon by a troll looking for food in my pack.

Concussed. The book didn't take kindly to the troll trying to shred it in its efforts to find the meat it smelled.

So we can cover the books in food and give them to the Falmer and Trolls and Bears? Easy hunting
